What We Do & How to Join

It has been the trend in recent years to involve the civil society hand in hand with the government in various sectors. Hence, the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) encouraged a group of intellectuals to establish a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) under the name of “Friends of the Coptic Museum” (FCM).

We are committed “To work in the field of cultural and scientific services and to assist the management of the museum raising global awareness and bringing the Coptic heritage into the light."

In particular, the activities of the newly born association would assist the management of the Museum in displaying guided-signs and publicize the masterpieces inside and outside the Museum.

FCM is working on including the Coptic Museum on the tourist map of the state and arranging conferences to attract more visitors. The group would spare no effort in supporting the cultural activities and contact peer organizations that may benefit the Museum.

In addition, we will develop programs to document and index the enclosed treasure, train staff on museology, restoration and languages all along helping the Museum to electronically classify its exhibits.

We always welcome new members and would be glad to receive your suggestions & ideas on info@coptic-cairo.com.

On behalf of the Board members… enjoy the read!
